So a few things first.I’d like to share a few projects by some developers I’m really in love with right now.
OeQuacki (www.oequacki.com ) is a a wonderful little project just getting off the ground. It’s a java alternative to oekaki that the developer is coding himself. It’s not as sophisticated as an oekaki app yet but I have a lot of faith it will get there. It will also be something that the developer intends to make tablet and phone friendly. He’s currently holding an open beta and there’s a small but eager little community there (which I’m actually now a part of) .
Nabyn (www.nabyn.com) is a project by none other than Kameloh, the man behind the now defunct OekakiArt site.Nabyn has a gorgeous design.it’s easy to browse, has a lot of fun features to it and has a nice sized but not stifling community. It looks better than DeviantArt to me.I can honestly say Kameloh is one of my personal heroes when it comes to coding and design so I’m happy to support him!
Since we’re on DeviantArt…..The DA group is active now. You can access it at www.oekaki-artisans-club.deviantart.com .
The DA group has a private oekaki and at this time you MUST be a member of the group to join the board. This might change later on.The Pluck oekaki which was previously for a Voltron fan group I’m in is now a fully open to the public board dedicated to voltron. You can find that at http://haevenarts.x10.mx/Oekakis/Pluck .
The Project HaevenArts oekaki was finally christened with some lovely work by Topazora.Go to the board to check out her work or better yet join and draw something yourself!
I will still be migrating the blog but not as soon as I previously said (obviously). It isn’t an urgent matter at the moment and has been moved to phase 4.I did make a few adjustments to the update log but nothing huge. The paintchat has been moved to a maybe project area because even though I have shell access and java capability I may not be able to run something like Paintchat at x10.Unless I get some advice on how to tweek it a bit more or bypass the server limitations it will have to wait until I can afford a proper server to set the Paintchat system up on.
I haven’t had much chance to type the FAQ and TOS yet.it will be very time consuming and with my carpal tunnel getting very bad very fast I can’t work on the site like I want to.I’m also working on a few website template x-mas gifts that need to get done very soon.
Just to remind you again what my upcoming updates will be:
- Filling in all pages of the new website excluding the events and support which have their own phase because of how votal they are to the final site.
- Creating the Beta Projects page on the blog
- Posting a page describing the boards on the blog
- Installing boards
- Retyping the newly revised FAQ and TOS
- Make final tweeks to the layout and menu setup for the final site
- Continuing to tweet frequently with creative quotes, facts, projects and up to the minute updates on the project
- Creating one custom template per board to match the new logos (which are gorgeous..)
I will be trying to get back to tweeting more.It just hasn’t been in the cards the last week or so.Now of course as I progress on the site some plans will change.I will try to adjust the update log and project log accordingly. At this point Staffing and events will quite possibly be strictly on the boards or in the member’s area.I’m not sure yet.I have to hunt down some scripts right now too. There are tons of user registration systems to pick through and it may take some time to compare them all and pick the best one.I’m debating the actual need for a shoutbox to be honest.I’ve always been a little on the fence about it really. It looks bad empty and it looks cluttered when in use and like the images in comments problem I have there are too many jokers who use it for stupid links and immature crap that I really don’t need visible on the front page.
Support options I was planning on using may not be really ideal at this point as I change the course of updates.I’m seriously revamping my plans on support and events and also the staffing system to fit the new mold of the site so we’ll see what happens.
Also in the works is that I’m considering a points system.I’m not sure where it might go or how I might implement it and I’d have to come up with some kind of incentive or something you could spend the points on.I’m pretty sure I’m keeping the idea though…
My next update here will be the blog pages and the contest details.I can tell you right now the first 50 people to join the ProjectHaevenArts board will be entered into the draw.Prizes will include oekaki hosting packs, access to the feature rich advanced boards and possibly gift cards.
I do have some real life shiz coming up too.I’ll be getting my wisdom teeth out and I’m getting a lot of stuff done related to my carpal tunnel as well.I also appear to have something weird going on with my left ear that keeps causing the left eardrum to get infected.I’m planning to get back out to at least part time work after that but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it and I can adjust my update schedules to suit that. The opening date will probably be closer to April 31st at this point but for now I’m sticking with March 30,2013…we’ll see what happens.
Just in case I don’t post before then Merry Christmas…or Happy Hannukah….or Kwanzaa….or whatever you’re doing.Enjoy your families! That’s the most important part of any holiday and more rewarding than any present you can give or get. And lastly ….the world didn’t end today.Aren’t you glad? The really interesting thing is that the Mayan calendar actually ends on the 21ist…..so process that you doomsday fanatics…..
